Requirements

Requirements to Coach or Volunteer w/ FC DALLASTOWN for 2019/2020

Background

CHANGES FOR 2019/2020 SEASON:   US Soccer and EPSYA (our state association) have updated their Risk Management Policy and system for tracking.  With that, FC Dallastown is changing the way that coaches/volunteers register, produce and maintain clearance documentation, and are selected for these volunteer roles to be inline with US Soccer and EPYSA.   We will now use the US Soccer Connect system for all registration and documentation.

NEW COACH APPLICANTS – If you have not already, please contact one of our VPs prior to applying to understand the coaching opportunities available for the upcoming season (Casey Taylor <Vpboystravel@dallastownsoccerclub.org> or Shawn Krout (vpgirlstravel@dallastownsoccerclub.org).

Please review the steps needed to apply to be a coach/volunteer below.  YOU ARE NOT ALLOWED ON THE FIELD UNTIL YOU HAVE RECEIVED YOUR ANNUAL COACH’S CARD FROM THE LEAGUE!

At the bottom of this page is helpful FAQs for any general issues, problems, or questions you may have. Any specific questions about compliance documents please contact our Risk Management Coordinator (compliance@dallastownsoccerclub.org) and any specific questions about the registration please contact our Registrar (registrar@dallastownsoccerclub.org).

PLEASE READ ALL INFORMATION BELOW BEFORE STARTING.  Please COMPLETE PHASE A (Steps 1-5) as soon as possible and no later than 6/24 for Club and Elite coaches and 8/30 for Junior Academy coaches for Fall 2019 season otherwise you will not be able to be rostered to your team for the start of the Fall ’19 season.  Phase A requires a significant amount of time (approx. 4-5 hours) for concussion and abuse (SafeSport) training so please plan accordingly. Trainings can be started, saved and restarted at any point in the trainings. Phase B will be completed at a later time and more information will follow.

  1. CONCUSSION TRAINING CERTIFICATE (EVERY YEAR, approx 1 hr)
  • The free CDC training course is integrated with US Soccer Connect. Click the “Learn More” button next to “Concussion Training Certificate” on your US Soccer Connect account profile page to take this training.   After completing the training, you will be able to directly upload the certificate to your profile. If you have already completed this training THIS YEAR you can click the “Learn More” button and then on “Upload Certificate” at the bottom of page to upload your current certificate.  (Note: after certificate is loaded/shown on screen, close the window and refresh your profile page for the item to be shown as completed/checked off).
  1. ABUSE PREVENTION TRAINING CERTIFICATE VIA SAFESPORT (INITIAL 3-4 HR COURSE, REFRESHER TRAINING EVERY YEAR)
  • This free training is integrated in US Soccer Connect. Click the “Begin Training” button next to “Abuse Prevention Certificate” on your US Soccer Connect account profile page.  You can complete this in sections as your progress is saved as you go. Once you complete the training in US Soccer Connect, your certificate will be automatically updated in your profile. • Click the “Upload Photo” button below the Headshot placeholder icon on your US Soccer Connect account profile page.  No sunglasses or hats can be wore in the headshot image used.
  1. OBTAIN THE FOLLOWING PA CLEARANCE DOCUMENTS (or GATHER your current un-expired, i.e. less than 5 yrs old, documents to have ready for uploading in Phase B.  Below is an attachment on how to download your previous documents from our old system/SportsEngine if you had uploaded them here)

Where to start Concussion (2), SafeSports training (3), and upload Head Shot (4)

PHASE B:  Uploading PA Compliance Documents in US Soccer Connect (DUE 7/1  for Club/Elite and 8/30 for Junior Academy Coaches), takes approx 15mins to complete)

IMPORTANT:

  • PA Clearance files must be uploaded as one pdf/image file to the US Soccer Connect site.
  • This is a requirement of EPYSA and US Soccer Connect/StackSports and not something the club can control/change (though we have provided them feedback).
  • To upload your PA Compliance documents that you collected in Phase A about, please use the following steps (this is EPYSA and US Soccer Connect’s current best approach)
    1. print off your 3 PA clearances (1. PA STATE POLICE CRIMINAL RECORD CHECK, 2. PA CHILD ABUSE HISTORY CLEARANCE, 3. FBI CRIMINAL BACKGROUND CHECK or FBI CLEARANCE EXEMPTION AFFIDAVIT)

Where to upload PA Compliance document (has to be in one file only)

The completed coaches profile after Phase A and B, should look like the below, with check marks next to each item after you complete and upload (the red thumbs down/not cleared is ok at this point)

PHASE C:  Approval of Coaches Training and Compliance Documents and Rostering to Team in US Soccer Connect (NOTHING FOR COACHES TO DO, Risk Management Coordinator will review your registration/uploads and contact you if anything needs to be updated/resubmitted)

Any specific questions about compliance documents please contact our Risk Management Coordinator (compliance@dallastownsoccerclub.org) and any specific questions about the registration please contact our Registrar (registrar@dallastownsoccerclub.org).
